Revalving isn't just for the aggresive riders looking for stiffer suspension anymore. In recent years, manufacturers have been valving shocks very stiff on performance machines. So stiff, in fact that a majority of people who ride performance machines aren't able to use all of the travel they paid for!
If your suspension's performance is not meeting your expectations, contact AVID today for your own custom-tuned suspension and start enjoying the ride your suspension was meant to deliver.
Revalving a shock can alter the performance of the shock in four ways:
1. Increase compression dampening: this will make the shock "stiffer" and will make a shock less prone to bottoming out, and will assist in high speed, big bump absorbtion.
2. Decrease compression dampening: this will make the shock "softer" and will help with lower speed bump absorbtion along with smaller bump absorbtion.
3. Increase rebound dampening: This will give more resistance to fully extending the shock. This service is performed typically when the spring rate on a shock has been increased.
4. Decrease rebound dampening: This will make the shock return to it's fully extended position quicker. This is typically done only when the spring rate on the shock has been decreased.
